Cosmetic Restorations Using CEREC Technology

It used to be that the process for having any type of restoration work done included preparing your mouth for the restoration, taking messy impressions of your teeth, sending your order to the dental lab, and waiting for a week or two for your restoration to come back from the lab. If any mistakes were made by the lab, you would need to wait even longer.

Keene, NH dentist Dr. Sean Drower is skilled in using state-of-the-art CEREC technology to create your porcelain and composite restorations, including crowns and bridges, right here in our dental office while you wait. Not only does this save you time driving back and forth, but you are also able to avoid the inconvenience of placing and removing a temporary restoration.

What Is CEREC?

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. Using a special type of imaging technology, Dr. Drower will take digital images of your teeth. A computer will then use these images along with other information to mill the restoration here in the office.

The restorations made with CEREC are metal-free for better aesthetics and come in a variety of shades so that they blend in beautifully with your own natural teeth. In just one visit, you will be able to leave with a flawless smile, completely free of gaps or damaged teeth and restored to full function.

CEREC Restorations

The tooth-colored restorations that can be made by CEREC include:

  • Dental crowns – used to repair teeth damaged by trauma or decay or to strengthen teeth following a root canal or significant fillings. Crowns are also used in dental implant restoration in which the crown is placed over a biocompatible titanium post to replace a missing tooth.
  • Bridges – a series of artificial teeth used to replace your missing teeth. They are anchored in with crowns placed over your natural teeth or dental implants.
  • Inlays and onlays – used to replace damaged fillings or repair cavities, chips, or other damage.
  • Dental veneers – thin porcelain shells bonded directly to the teeth to give them a more attractive appearance.

With CEREC technology, we can meet all of these needs at the same time, restoring your smile to beauty and function while saving you the inconvenience of multiple dental visits. Additionally, because the restorations made using CEREC are biocompatible, you don’t have to worry about allergic reactions or other complications.
